You could tell from yesterday's post that I've been playing around with the Spice Cake suite recently, but did you realise that there is more to this gorgeous range than paper and stamps? For those of you who love a bit of texture in your projects, or who love to add a bit of variety to your crafting, why not have a look at Stampin' Up!'s beautiful fabrics?
This pretty pillow box looks at first sight to be nothing particularly unusual, but look again: it's covered in fabric! If you click on the photo you'll be able to zoom in and see the weave clearly. This is one of the patterns included in the Spice Cake fabric box, and it matches the rest of the Spice Cake Suite perfectly. Now, you might think this was fiddly to make - all that messy gluing of material to cardstock - but no! I used our new Adhesive Sheets to stick the fabric to the card and then ran the card-and-fabric result through the Big Shot. And bingo! Crisply cut edges, even the scorelines and the perforations showed through. No need to worry about the edges of the material fraying, as the adhesive goes right to the edge and keeps everything in place.
I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to use fabric in my projects in this way! Many of my customers said to me that they can't sew, so they wouldn't be buying the fabric, but realising they don't NEED to sew, and that they can make beautiful things like this so easily soon changed their minds. And, if you CAN sew, you don't need to search around for something to match your ink and paper - 'cause the co-ordination has already been done for you!
